Our club started as an independent club in January 2019. The members were all previously members of the Manor Gatehouse Club which itself was formed in 1983. That club was originally based in the gatehouse of Burton Manor, Burton, Cheshire - hence the name. Many of the early members were ex-employees of Unilever and Shell. The club offered general interest talks and a range of special interest activities. It soon outgrew the gatehouse and used the Gladstone Village Hall in Burton as its base. The rambling group was always one of the bigger groups and at one stage even had a waiting list, who established a group of their own!

In 2018 it was decided that the rambling group would set up as a free-standing club, commencing its programme in January 2019
